During Peter I the Great time the building was a winter residence, then Nicholas II moved it to Tsarskoye Selo. Later on, the building housed a hospital, the Provisional Government, the Museum of the Revolution, and finally, the Hermitage with its huge museum collection.
One of the first works in the museum collection is the New Market in Amsterdam by the Dutch artist Van der Helst. The painting presents a farmer with a cart full of vegetables and a huge pork carcass, which is all you need to prepare borsch. Beets, carrots, cabbage, and herbs, all these ingredients are used in our rich South Russian soup. We also add some salo with garlic to it and you will not forget the visit to our restaurant after the Hermitage.
A monument of Russian classicism. The ship on the spire of the building is considered as one of the historical symbols of the city, as much as the angel on the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral or the Bronze Horseman. Initially, it was built as a shipyard, but then only fleet institutions remained in the building. Now the main headquarters of the Russian Navy is located here.
One of the main attractions of St. Petersburg, the open view of the bridge is a symbol of the city. It connects the central part with Vasilievsky Island. It looks especially spectacular at night.
The pier itself is a grandiose, majestic descent to the waters of the Neva. On both sides, there are cast-iron pedestals with lions turning heads to each other. From this place, many water excursions of St. Petersburg start: along the river Neva and canals, with access to the Gulf of Finland.
At Yat' restaurant, you can order snacks and drinks to take with you for a sea excursion and book a place on a boat.
The cathedral took 40 years to construct and was the most expensive church in Europe at that time. It was nicknamed the "ink girl" because of its shape. Its foundation has more than 10 thousand pine piles. The French-born architect Montferrand built the cathedral, and Emperor Nicholas I himself oversaw the construction.
It is with the figure of this Russian tsar that the popularity of the Pozharsky cutlets is associated, he was once treated to these cutlets in Torzhok by the innkeeper Daria Pozharskaya. Cutlets with veal and chicken meat with a crispy crust of white bread can also be tasted at our restaurant.
Architect Rossi understood ancient architecture. He designed a building and a triumphal arch dedicated to the Russian victory over the Napoleonic army in 1812. It is crowned with a chariot and goddess Victoria. The opening of the arch was timed to coincide with the return to the capital of the guard, which fought on the southern borders of Russia. Now the building is divided between the Hermitage and the command of the Western Military District.
Like the generals from Saltykov-Shchedrin's fairy tale, who were starving on an uninhabited island, and they were going to eat leather boots and gloves to survive. They were finally saved by a simple Russian man, and our hospitable restaurant Yat' will do the same. We will save you if you are hungry on Palace Square.
It was rebuilt according to the drawings of the architect Leonty Benois. The Capella Concert Hall is considered one of the best in Europe in terms of acoustics. Our restaurant has been friends with Capella’s employees and guests for many years, we often feed touring musicians and festival participants.
The four passing courtyards are popularly called "Capella courtyards," they contain numerous galleries and small hotels. Free concerts are regularly held in these courtyards.

Marble Palace is one of the most luxurious palaces in St. Petersburg. This architectural ensemble is entirely made of natural stone. The name of the palace is because its facades and interiors are decorated with various types of marble. The museum hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions. The famous monument to Alexander III can be seen in the courtyard.
The palace was a gift from Catherine the Great to her favorite friend Grigory Orlov. However, it took so long to build it, that Orlov did not live to see the end of the construction. But, at the Yat' you will not have to wait so long for an order. You will be immediately offered drinks and snacks.
The world’s largest collection of Russian art, from folk to modern. It was founded by the last Russian Tsar Nicholas II.
In 2015, the Benoit Building hosted the wonderful exhibition "Invitation to Dinner." This exhibition featured paintings, graphics, and even menus of Russian restaurants of different historical periods.
Boris Kustodiev is our favorite artist, his theme of tea drinking is widely disclosed by the artist. In his works you can see merchants and coachmen, summer residents with children on a veranda, samovars, bagels and sweets, innkeepers, and even a portrait of Chaliapin is depicted against the background of a street market.
Restaurant Yat' offers you Koporsky tea, a drink from willowherb. You can order a tea tasting with honey, jam, and sweets.
This beautiful church was built at the site of the assassination attempt on Alexander II by political nihilists. After the revolution, it was used as a warehouse. In the 1970s a restoration started and it finished in the late 90s.
The church contains over 7500 square meters of mosaics of different styles inside and outside. The temple is also known for the presence of an icon on which prophetic numbers appear. Mysticism is generally characteristic of this church. During the war, a bomb hit the building, but it did not explode, it seemed to lie in the hands of the Savior.
Now the church is also known for its proximity to the legendary restaurant of Russian cuisine Yat'.
The son of Russian poetry, A. S. Pushkin, lived next to the Yat' restaurant. Unfortunately, he only lived here for four months.
He was brought to this apartment mortally wounded after a duel on Chyornaya Rechka. Following his last wish, cloudberries from the Round Market nearby were brought to him. We are happy to be so close to this part of Pushkin history.
It is a well-known fact that the poet loved simple homemade food. He liked porridge, chowder, and baked potatoes with melted butter. But his favorite dish was red pancakes with beet juice.
At our restaurant of homemade Russian cuisine, we have a wide offer of pancakes.
In 1753, the architect Francesco Rastrelli offered to construct the main square of the city of Saint Petersburg on a vast territory. The square used to host festivities and carnivals. On these days concerts, parades, and tourists walked around.
There used to be many popular restaurants around the square, like "Donon", "Medved", "Kyuba", and "Wolf and Beranger cafe". Now, there are many places around too.
One of the most popular is the Yat' restaurant. If you are hungry, cold, or wet after a walk in the rain we will warm you up and feed you in our place with our homemade food and drinks.
In the center of the Palace Square stands this empire-style monument. The monument is claimed to be the tallest of its kind and it is crowned with a statue of an angel trampling a snake with a cross. The composition symbolizes the peace and tranquility that Russia brought to Europe after defeating Napoleon.
In the beginning, citizens of Saint Petersburg did not want to walk near the column afraid that it could fall. To show that it was safe, its architect Montferrand used to walk his dog around the column every evening.
The Yat' restaurant is dog-friendly and we let you enter with small-size dogs.
